Student Secure portfolio of products benefits was updated by the the plan administrator – Tokio Marine HCC MIS Group – with enhancements and other rate or wording changes as detailed below. These changes are effective May 15, 2020 and impact the below Student Secure plans:

  • Student Secure Budget
  • Student Secure Select
  • Student Secure Elite

The respective plan Brochures, and policy Description of Coverage sample documents have also been updated to reflect the below detailed changes. You can view and download the same on the respective plan pages.

What has changed in this update?

Student Secure plan updates for Student Secure Budget, Student Secure Select, Student Secure Elite to include coverage for COVID-19 / Coronavirus global pandemic.

Below are the updates/changes made to the Student Secure portfolio Budget, Select, Elite plans effective on and after 5/15/2020. The changes are outlined below.

Updated Benefits as detailed below:

  • Budget, Select, Elite
    INTERCOLLEGIATE, INTERSCHOLASTIC, INTRAMURAL, OR CLUB SPORTS coverage removed from base plan and added as a buy-up.
  • All Plans
    New CDC exclusion wording with exception allowing for coverage of COVID-19. A definition for Common Carrier also added to the DOC to support the new exclusion.

Updated Description of Coverage Wording:

  • All Plans
    Updated Appeals contact information (PO Box and email address)

Workers Compensation: added new language clarifying that charges covered by workers compensation are excluded

            Crisis Response: additional countries excluded and Unity Resources Group name updated to Unity Advisory Group/On Call International (applies to Select & Elite buy-up only)
